배현철 작가는 몸 감각의 예민함을 이용해 손으로 그리고 칠하며, 일상 속에서 서정성을 찾고 위로가 되는 순간을 기록하는 작업을 한다. 각자의 이야기를 찾아낼 수 있는 보편적인 서정을 작가 특유의 우직함으로 표현하는 것이 특징이다.

11회의 개인전과 280여회의 그룹전을 가졌고, 대한민국 심사위원 역임. 일본 후쿠야마 미술관, 포항 시립미술관, 대구 지방법원, 포항 시청 등 소장처 다수.동국대 졸.

BAE Hyunchul has had 11 solo exhibitions and over 280 group exhibitions in Korea, Japan, China etc. Also he has served as a member of the panel of judges at the Grand art exhibitions of Korea. BAE Hyun-chul is an invaluable painter with his unique visual language - FINGER PAINTING. He says our lives and consolation by depiction of specific moments of comfort. He sketches moonlight in the night, the time on the way home, waves on the beach, the austere port, then he records those moments and their lyricism. His works remind us of what is missing this time around and let us find our own story.
